Willis Potter

Willis Elmer Potter, age 84, of Swanton, OH died on Friday, August 20, 2021 in his home, surrounded by his family, after a heroic battle with congestive heart disease. Willis was born in 1936 in Riga, MI to Elmer & Miriam Potter. He had brothers, William and James, both deceased and sister, Violet, deceased. He attended Whiteford Center High School and served in the US Army from 1960-1962. Willis was a proud retiree of the Jeep Corp in Toledo. Willis lived in Blissfield, MI and then Swanton, OH after marrying Oretta in 1979. Willis enjoyed westerns, good conversation, road trips and camping He is survived by his wife, Oretta; sons, James (Kimberley) and Michael; step-daughters, Tina and Rebecca; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Virginia and Velma Jane and trusty pawed pal, Maggie. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am with a memorial service to follow at 10:30 am in Walker Funeral Homes, Holland-Springfield Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, OH (419-865-8879) officiated by nephew, Ryan Potter. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Blissfield, MI. Memorial donations can be made to Heartland Hospice, The American Heart Association or charity of choice.
