William G Wiener II passed away peacefully at the Toledo Hospital on Saturday, December 10, 2022. He fought a valiant battle against frontal-temporal lobe dementia for many years. This cruel disease little by little stole bits of his life and memories. He was born November 24, 1949 to William and Ruby (Steinwand) Wiener. He attended St. Catherines Elementary School and was a lifelong member of St. Catherines Parish He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1967. He received his Bachelors in Physical Education from Bowling Green State University in 1971, and his Masters in Media and Communication from the University of Toledo in 1978. He married the love of his life, Constance (Higley) Wiener on Dec. 16, 1972, and sadly passed away just 6 days before their 50th wedding anniversary. A small surprise anniversary celebration organized by their family and friends, was held last week which provided much joy to Connie and Bill. He began his career by teaching and coaching in what was then the Fairfield School for Boys in Lancaster, Ohio. He then continued work for the Ohio Youth Commission as a juvenile parole officer and Foster Care Specialist in Toledo, Ohio. He made a career change in 1980 when he went to work for a pharmaceutical wholesale company, Amerisource Bergen, the former Kauffman-Lattimer, in Toledo until his retirement in 2008. Bill was an avid golfer, and enjoyed golf trips around the country with his son and friends. He also enjoyed travel, and was able to visit many places, including the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Europe in addition to travels in the United States.He was a huge sports fan and cheered on the Detroit Tigers, Lions and Red Wings, and of course the BGSU Falcons. He especially enjoyed coaching, and cheering on his children and grandchildren in all of their sports and activities. He used to hang handmade signs in his childrens rooms to motivate them in whatever activity they had on that day. He always enjoyed talking sports with his many friends. Spending time with his family and friends was his favorite thing to do.Bill was preceded in death by his parents, sister Nancy Starkey and brothers-in-law Robert Higley and Arnold Starkey.His memory will be forever cherished by his wife, Connie, their children Matthew (Heather Large) and Kara (Gradon) Goa, his grandchildren, Lauren, Jacob (Grace Johnson), Grady, Emerson, Cooper and Gunnar Goa, soon-to-be grandchildren Devin and Jayden Dougherty and was looking forward to his first great-grandchild on the way. He also survives his nephew Michael Starkey and nieces, Melenie Spengler, Sue Urbanowicz, Amanda Keske and sister-in-law Pamela Holt Higley.
