William H Werner, Jr.

William (Bill) H. Werner Jr, 85, of Toledo, OH passed away on December 10th ,2018 at Lakes of Sylvania in Sylvania OH. He was born on October 20th, 1933 in Toledo to William H. Sr and Ida E. Werner. Bill was married and devoted to Gail Ruth (Dieball) Werner for over 62 years. Bill graduated from Whitmer High School where he lettered in basketball and football and later attended Findlay College where he also lettered in football. He was employed 34 years at Riker IND, retiring in 1989. He enjoyed NASCAR and also hunting and fishing with his best buddy, Jim Gramza. Bill was very competitive and owned race horses at the former Raceway Park. Bill also raced pigeons, competing in Toledo and Detroit for many years. Bill also enjoyed his time in Arizona with Gail. Bill was a 32nd Degree Mason Lodge 746 in Point Place. Bill is survived by his children, Julie Ann (Jim) Bauknecht and William D. Chip (Kathy) Werner; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and the love of his life and wife, Gail Ruth. Friends will be received on Thursday, December 13th, 2018 from 5pm until the time the Celebration of Life Service at 7pm in Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home, 1163 W.
