William C. Schmidt

William C. Schmidt, age 81, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Tuesday, February 10, 2009 on his birthday at Manor of Perrysburg. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on Friday, February 10, 1928 to Harold and Dorothy (Brenner) Schmidt. Bill was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and played many roles there. He was a very devoted husband to his wife, Carol during their 42 years of marriage. She passed in November of 1992. Bill was the co-owner of Charles J. Schmidt and Sons Carpentry for 34 years. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. He served our country proudly as a Corporal in the engineering Battalion of the 430th Army division in Korea. Bill was a member of Perrysburg Legion Post 28. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and cherished wife. Bill is survived by his daughters Randy (James) Francis, and Julie (Robert) Stelter, sons Bill (Beth) and Chip (Mary) Schmidt, 8 grandchildren, nephews John (Betty) Schmidt, Dan (Pat) and Dave (Mary) Spilman. Visitation will be at H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd, (at Alexis) on Friday, February 13 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be at H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home Saturday, February 14 at 10:00 am. Internment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 East River Rd.
