William Edwin Humphrey

William Edwin Humphrey, 79, of Fremont, Ohio, passed away peacefully, on August 26, 2026, in Toledo, Ohio.

William was born on February 16, 1947, in Covington, Kentucky, to Edwin Humphrey and Louise (Hillman) Humphrey. He graduated from Fremont Ross High School and went on to build a long and dedicated career with Wonder Bread Hostess Cake, where he worked for 32 years, before retiring.

William enjoyed life and especially loved attending sprint car races. He also cherished vacationing on Anna Maria Island, in Florida, a favorite place where he enjoyed making memories and spending time away.

His faith was an important part of his life. William was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and found great joy in sharing his faith with others. He especially loved participating in the preaching work and telling people about God's Kingdom. His love for Jehovah and his hope for the future was a meaningful part of who he was.

William will be remembered for the life he lived, the things he enjoyed, and the faith that was so important to him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish Williams memory include his wife of 56 years, Linda Humphrey; children, Rick (Kimberly) Humphrey, Jarrod Humphrey, Cherie (Tony) Hammons, Dawn Humphrey, Mark (Stephanie) Humphrey; grandchildren, Jacilynn, BooBoo, Alexis, Ashley, Lindsey, Katlynn, Megan, Kristopher, Brandon, Andrew, Seth, Danielle, Mackenzie, Brittney, John, Nick, Kristen, Jarra, Rian; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Theresa Meros, David Humphrey, and Shawn Humphrey. William was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him, William Thomas and Edna (Long) Thomas; sister, Cheryl Humphrey; brothers, Russell Humphrey and Brian Humphrey; great-grandsons, Preston and Jaxon.

Services will be held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1509 Cedar Street, Fremont, Ohio 43420, on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
