Wally Fenneken, of Point Place, died December 29, 2020 at the Ebeid Hospice Center of Flower Hospital. He was 74 years old. Wally was born in Toledo on September 29, 1946 to Charles Edward and Alice Mae Fenneken. He attended Nathan Hale Elementary School and DeVilbiss High School, where he played cornet in the marching and concert bands. Wally Graduated from The University of Toledo in 1969 with a B.B.A. majoring in logistics. At the university, he participated in the Reserve Officer Training Corp, which led to joining the United States Army Reserves. Wally was a Phi Kappa Psi Alumni.Wally worked for Owens Corning in the logistics department and later became the owner and operator of the Mayfly Tavern in Point Place. He served in the United States Navy Reserves for 24 years, earning the title of Chief Petty Officer. Wally enjoyed golf, skeet shooting, and he loved cars.He was preceded in death by his father in 1987 and his mother in 2004. He is survived by his wife, Bunny Fenneken; two sons, Scott (Kim) Fenneken of Perrysburg and Ross Fenneken of Toledo; seven grandchildren; his sister Gwendolyn (Thomas) Senerius of Toledo; stepchildren, Abigail (Gregory) Humbertson and Michael (Erin) Biniecki; two nieces, Laura (Jason) Smith of Toledo and Karen (Joseph) Kimerer of Waterville; one great-nephew; two great-nieces; and one cousin, William (Cheryl) Fenneken of Columbus.The family wishes to thank Parkcliff of Northwood and the ICU and the Ebeid Hospice Center of Flower Hospital for their care of Wally. Military honors will take place at the Mayfly Tavern at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 11. A private celebration of Wallys life will follow. Memorials in Wallys name may be directed to the Toledo Humane Society, Lucas County Canine Control, or the Music Department of Monroe Street Methodist Church.
