Virginia Diaz

Virginia Diaz passed on August 4, 2015, at Harper Hospital in Detroit, Michigan after losing a lengthy battle to Chronic Kidney Disease. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Albert E. Diaz; parents, Louis and Juanita Sarabia; brothers, Jesus Sarabia, Felipe Sarabia, Francisco Sarabia and Ruben Sarabia, and sisters, Estefana Silva, Alicia Rodriguez, and Mary Lucio. She is survived by her children, Charles J. Sarabia (Abbie), Israel L. Diaz (Jane), Victor M. Diaz, Cynthia Ann G. Torres and Abraham A. Diaz. She had 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Virginia retired from working with the State of Ohio, Dept. of Mental Health, working as an account clerk in a supervisory position at the Toledo Mental Health Center. She was elected Treasurer of the OCSEA chapter at this facility. Other positions that she had were working for Riverside Hospital and various factories in the Toledo area. She also tried her hand at being a radio disc jockey for a local Mexican American radio program in the Toledo area. Viewing will be held on Sunday, August 9 from 2 until 9 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at the H.H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home at 3219 Tremainsville Rd., 419-473-1301. A Mass of Resurrection will be held Monday, August 10 at the Immaculate Conception Church located on Eastern Ave. and Broadway at 11 a.m. with viewing 1 hour prior to services at 10 a.m. Interment to follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park located on Central Ave.Arrangements under the direction of H.H.
