Virgie Washington

March 2, 1931 — June 21, 2015

Virgie L. Washington, 84, of Toledo, received her wings on June 21, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Virgie was born to the union of Ocie and Nobie Watson. She was educated in the Louisiana school system. Virgie worked and retired from Libbey Glass as a Color Select Technician. She was also employed by Stoner Johnson Insurance Company. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and especially traveling to Lansing, MI to visit her favorite cousin and best friend, Flossie. Virgie and James Washington married in 1947 and to this union were born five children. Virgie was a devoted and faithful member of Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board for many years. She was a kind hearted, giving, and loving person. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, and a son, James Washington. Virgie is survived by her children, Ann (Raymond) Ward of Greenwood, LA, Varie Washington Brown of Toledo, Donald (Brenda) Washington of Toledo, and Michael (Marie) Washington of Shreveport, LA; sister, Joyrene Hamilton of Rodessa, LA, and brother, Ernest Watson of Atlanta, TX; eleven grandchildren; twelve greatgrandchildren; friend, Samuel Russell, and a host of other loving relatives, church family, and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church with the Wake starting at 6 p.m. followed by the Service at 7 p.m., Eulogist, Reverend Dr. John E. Roberts, Pastor. Arrangements entrusted to Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home, 419-269-1111. A private family Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date.Arrangements under the direction of Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home, Toledo, OH.
