Vera Jean Ruegge Lehmann

Vera Jean Lehmann, went to be with our Lord in heaven on Saturday, June26, 2010. She was born in Toledo, Ohio to Arthur and Elsie Mae Ruegge on July 20, 1930. Veras upbringing in Point Place led to her love of being near the water and passion of lighthouses. After losing her mother to illness in 1940, she and her brother, Art went to live with her sister, Lucille Whitacre. Vera attended Point Place Jr. High and graduated from Whitney Vocational High School in 1948. She was employed at Daniels Drug Store, Shoreway Theatre and Hi Hat Hamburger in Point Place. In 1949, Vera married the love of her life, Charles Lehmann and they raised four children. She loved driving to Bolles Harbor and getting an ice cream cone them watching the boats and fisherman or driving through the park to look for deer. Vera liked feeding and watching the different birds in her yard and tending to her various flowers.She attended Alexis Congregational Church. Vera loved her family, adored her grandchildren and was buddies with her cat, Maggie.Vera was preceded in death by and reunited in Glory with her son, Kenneth and her sister, Lucille. She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Lehmann, children, Charles A. Lehmann, James (Angela) Lehmann, Lori (Larry) Pinkerman, grandchildren, Kimberly Lehmann, Nicholas White, Megan White, Melanie Pinkerman and Marci Puliver, brother, Arthur Ruegge and her great friend, Sally Kreiner.Visitation for Vera will be at H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd (at Alexis) 419-473-1301 on Tuesday, June 29 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday. Pastor Ed Fairchild will officiate.
