Thomas Joseph Gillen

Thomas J. Gillen passed away suddenly on February 24, 2023 at Fulton County Health Center. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 11, 1940 to Aloysius and Edna Gillen. Thomas graduated high school and entered Skilled Trades school. He married his high school sweetheart Donna Marie Henry, June 24, 1961. After graduating trade school he started working for Dana Corporation as a Millwright. He worked there for 30 years and retired in 1992. He loved "tinkering" in his garage; fixing or building things. He enjoyed camping, playing harmonica, writing poetry, watching movies, playing cards, Mexican and Chinese foods, and loved spending time with his family and friends telling stories and jokes. Everyone who met him loved him. He served as a Eucharistic Minister for shut ins for many years until becoming disabled. He was devoted at saying his rosary daily for all who touched his life.

He is survived by his wife Donna Marie Henry; sons, Terrance A. Gillen (Deb Campbell) and Anthony M. Gillen (Terri Lynn); grandsons, Mark W. Beebe II (Tiffany) and Nicholas S. Gillen; great-grandsons, Ashton Beebe and Lucas Beebe; brother, Patrick Gillen (Dolores) and family. Brother-in-Law, Anthony Viertlboeck; many Nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was proceeded by death by his parents; and first born son, Gary P. Gillen (Brenda Carpenter); and Mother-in-law, Amelia West.

Visitation for Thomas will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 6149 Hill Ave, Toledo, OH at 9:00 am on Saturday March 4, 2023. Memorial Mass will follow at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes "We Build Campaign".
