Thomas L. Friedman5/18/1937 - 3/10/2023Thomas Friedman, age 85, passed away Friday evening, March 10, 2023, at Kingston Residence of Sylvania. Thomas was born on May 18, 1937 to David Arthur and Ruth Friedman. He graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1955. Thomas served in the U.S. Army and attained the rank of Specialist. He was honorably discharged in 1966.Thomas had a great sense of humor. He was a man that enjoyed good cuisine, traveling, and interesting conversations. A true businessman, his intelligence and determination opened many doors for his career. Thomas taught his children to appreciate the opportunities life gave them and introduced them to many activities they share with their own children. He loved spending time in Longboat Key, Florida, enjoying the beach, weather, food, family, and friends. As a grandfather, he took delight in his grandchildren. Even in his last days, he wanted to know how they were doing. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was an exceptional patriarch, father, grandfather, and friend.Thomas is survived by his second wife, Charlotte; and brother, Robert Friedman. He is also survived by his children; Jeffrey (Penny) Friedman, Dena Rives, Michael Friedman, Rachel (Todd) Schroeder, and Melissa (Mike) Rakolta; his step-children, Steve (Betsy) Davis, and Juliana (Reed) Swanson; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and former wife, Linda Dorn (2010).An intimate gathering will happen at Kingston Residence of Sylvania, and a private memorial will take place in Longboat Key, Florida.
