Thomas M. Connolly

September 28, 1948 — July 24, 2015

THOMAS M. CONNOLLY (1948 2015) Thomas Michael Connolly has gone home, and this world will never be as sweet without him! Tom, age 66, passed away on July 24, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, after a valiant struggle with heart complications. Tom left us here to go to a better place and we believe that we will see him again there. Tom was born September 28, 1948 in Toledo to Virginia (Oess) and John F. Connolly. He combined the best attributes of that Irish-German heritage: a love of fun in life and hard work in living. He grew up in Blessed Sacrament with three sisters and lots of neighborhood friends. After graduating from St. Francis de Sales High School, Tom proudly served in the U.S. Army as a radioman in-country in Vietnam from 1967 1969. He industriously obtained his undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor at the University of Toledo on the G. I. Bill. During night law school, he worked for 4 years as a court bailiff for a wonderful mentor, Judge George Kiroff, in Lucas County Common Pleas Court, until he passed the Ohio bar in 1977, when he began following in his fathers footsteps as an Ohio attorney. His carefree days sailing on Lake Erie became even brighter when he soon met Mary Pat Gibbons at the Round House on Put-In-Bay, and they then had a grand Irish wedding at Blessed Sacrament on March 17, 1979. Their union was blessed with two lovely daughters, Megan born in 1981 and Maureen born in 1985, who have grown into talented professional young women. Tom practiced law for some years on Collingwood, and then on Sylvania Avenue. He was greatly pleased when he and his daughter Maureen formed the law firm of Connolly & Connolly, upon her admission to the Ohio Bar in 2010. As an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, he rarely missed a game. Tom never lost the wild glint in his eye and lived a life of great adventure. He traveled the world with his Bride. Additionally, he loved spending time with his friends golfing, and causing mayhem in Las Vegas. He is survived by his wonderful wife Mary Pat, beautiful daughters Megan and Maureen, son-in-law Matthew Mundrick, bereaved sisters Carol (Tom) Pletz, Christine (Dennis) Donatini and Mary Rohloff, numerous nieces and nephews, many friends and neighbors on Grantwood and at Locust Point. Friends are invited to join the Celebration of his life at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2240 Castlewood Drive, Toledo, Ohio 43613 on July 28, 2015, where the family will first gather to greet friends at 9:30 a.m., one half-hour before the 10 oclock Memorial Mass. Tributes are suggested to a charity of your choosing, and the family would be grateful if you would donate blood in Toms honor to the American Red Cross
