Thomas S. Barr, Sr.

Thomas S. Barr Sr., age 92, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015, at Heartland of Waterville. Thomas was born on January 14, 1922, to Shelton and Nannie (Williams) Barr. Before enlisting in the Army Air Corps in 1941, Thomas joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. While serving his country honorably during WWII, Thomas flew over 60 bombing missions in the South Pacific, earning his Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, and Asiatic Pacific Service Medal. Thomas was a longtime member of both the VFW in Toledo and the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #53. Thomas retired in 1988 as Production Engineer at WTOL in Toledo after 28 years. Thomas is survived by his children, Linda, Theresa, Thomas Jr., Brenda, Daniel, and Dennis and their families. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at H.H.
