Thelma Jean Davenport

Thelma Jean Davenport of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026. She was born on September 23, 1951, in Maplewood, West Virginia.

Known affectionately by family and friends as "Tee," Thelma was the devoted wife of Freddie A.M. Davenport Jr. She will be remembered for her quick wit, Southern charm, playful sense of humor, and the steady love she gave to her family. The warmth and comfort she brought to the lives of those who knew and loved her will never be forgotten.

Thelma was a 1969 graduate of Nuttall High School in Lookout, West Virginia, where she was also a majorette. She studied shorthand and was known for her impressive typing skills. Her first and always her favorite job was working as a secretary at the State Capitol in Charleston, West Virginia.

Throughout her career, Thelma worked in administration, sales, and customer service. Her dedication, professionalism, and natural way with people earned the trust and respect of those around her.

Outside of work, "Tee" knew how to enjoy life. She loved trips to the casino, going on vacations, and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and family. These were the moments that meant the most to her, simply being with the people she loved.

Thelma leaves behind her loving husband, Freddie A.M. Davenport Jr.; her children, Sherri (Morris) Robinson, Valerie "Peach" (Antoine) Blue, Brandy Davenport, and Freddie Davenport III; her grandchildren, Justin, Sherrae, Rena, Skyler, Freddie IV, Master, and Moses; her great-grandchildren, Journee, Santana, Rhydian, Milan, and Sarrae; and her sister, Betty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Stella Lego; her siblings, Johnny, Russell Jr., Larry, George, Mildred, Florence, and Mary; and her beloved dog, Diego.

Thelma was deeply loved, and she gave that love right back to the people fortunate enough to call her Mom, Nana, wife, sister, family, and friend. Her wit, warmth, and unmistakable spirit will live on in the stories told, the laughter shared, and the family she loved so dearly. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will carry her with them always.

A Celebration of Life for Thelma will be announced at a later date. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
