Steven Wayne Reed Horton

Steven Wayne Reed Horton age 27 of Dayton, Ohio and formally of Toledo passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 22, 1989. Steven went to culinary school and was employed as a chef. He was preceded in death by his sister, Shalonda Horton. Steven is survived by his parents, Ross and Tammy Horton, siblings; Anthony, Malinda, Anastasia, Terrance, Jessie, Savanna, Cody, Stephan, T.J. Emmy. He is also survived by his grandparents, Gary Horton, Sally (Jim) Stewart, Tom (Kathy) Stalker, and Robert Darbyshire. He is also survived by Amy Ramirez. Steve was a son, brother, uncle and friend. He loved following his dad around wanting to help and learn to fix whatever he was working on. Steve and his brother loved wrestling around the house and turned that in to All City and All State titles in Jr high and high school. To his sisters he was always quite the jokester. Steve received his Associates of Culinary Arts and moved to Dayton where he was working as a chef. He was also a avid Michigan State and Tennessee Titans fan. Addiction is not new to the Horton family as Steves younger sister, Shalonda died of a heroin overdose in 2015. Ross and Chris found support from the support group F.A.A.D. Families After Addiction or Death and saw the need in the community for more help and currently advocate for heroin awareness thru the support group, F.A.C.T. Families and Addicts Coming Together. And to all the members of Team Recovery that have inspired us, and gave is hope that recovery is possible. As painful as the loss of another child is they want the world to know the heroin epidemic needs to be an issue at the fore front of every household before we lose an entire generation. They have set up a go fund me account to help defray the transportation and funeral expenses so Ross (Chris Collier) and Tammy Horton (Derek Robinson) can bring their son home so he can rest in peace with his sister. Visitation will be at H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd at Alexis Rd. (419-473-1301) on Monday, July 17, 2017 from 2:00 pm until time of funeral service beginning at 7:00 pm.
