Stella M. Zubik

Stella M. Zubik, age 94 passed away November 30, 2013 at Lake Park Comfort Care. Stella was born on May 18, 1919 in Everson, Pa, the fourth of five siblings. She moved to Toledo in 1965 to live with her brothers and served as their caregiver. Blessed with a green thumb, Stella took great pride in nurturing a variety of roses, tulips and other flowers in her yard. Physically strong and mentally tough, she continued into her 90s to handle household repairs and yard work with her characteristic spunk. She also enjoyed watching telecasts of the Detroit Tigers and Notre Dame football. A faithful parishioner at St Clement Church. She was grateful for the many kindnesses she received from parish volunteers who provided transportation. She also appreciated the help provided during recent years by her neighbors and especiall appreciated the decades-long friendship and support provided by the McGoverns. The family is thankful for the caring professionalism of the visiting nurses who helped, particularly Annette, the nurses and aids at Lake Park. Stella was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank and Paul and her sisters, Angelina and Frances (Skunda). She is survived by her nieces, Jeanne (Robert) Fraker, Janet (Charles) Krueger, Rita Skunda and Donna Skunda, her nephew, Thomas Skunda (Patricia Shea), and grandnepohew and two grandnieces, Michael, Stephanie and Julia Fraker. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on December 4, at 10:00 am at St Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremaisville Rd. Visitation will be held in the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
