Stanley Boyd Rood

Stanley “Stan” B. Rood, 83, of Weston, Ohio, passed away peacefully on his birthday, October 13, 2025, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital, surrounded by family.

Born on October 13, 1942, in Bowling Green, Ohio, Stan graduated from Bowling Green high school in 1960. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. In 1966, he married the love of his life, Donna (Haefer) Rood, in California. Together they shared nearly six decades of marriage, raising two children and building a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

Stan’s career involved years of travel before he and Donna settled in Fort Myers, Florida, in 1989. After enjoying many years of sunshine and retirement there, they returned to their Ohio roots in 2022, making their home in Weston, OH.

In his retirement, Stan found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved playing golf and cornhole, exploring local thrift shops for unique finds, and spending time with family and friends. His humor, easygoing nature, and kind heart will be remembered by all who knew him.

Stan is survived by his devoted wife, Donna Rood; his children, Christine M. Ricketts (Bill Tallant) and Toby L. Rood (Mathilda); and his cherished grandchildren, Stephanie (Justin) Fultz, Zachary (Jade) Balusik, Brandt Ricketts, Mariah (Ryan) Beard, Matthew Rood, and Allie (Zack) Bethel. He was blessed with nine great-grandchildren, Savannah, Jaxson, Jayla, Justin Jr., Blaze, Kaybrie, Paisley, Jenson, and Theodore, all who brought him great pride and joy.

He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, including Kevin, Tonya, Sharon, Sandy, Bryan, Laura, Larry, Jamie, Dino, Diana, Scott, and Mike.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Gertrude Rood; his siblings, Robert, Don, Genielle, Norm, Nola, and Jim; as well as nieces and nephews, Karen, Denny, Patty, Melanie, Andrea, Gail, Tim, and Ricky.

Stan will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who lived a full life marked by service, humor, and generosity of spirit. A private family service will be held to honor his life.
