Shirley Melchi

Shirley Alice (Wassmer) Melchi went to live with her heavenly Father in the early hours of June 14, 2021. She was born in New Haven, Connecticut to William and Agnes (Elias) Wassmer on October 3, 1935 and lived there until coming to Ohio in 1956. She had many talents including painting, drawing and cake decorating. Shirley was a caring person who helped all those she could and went to nursing school in the early 1980s so she could help even more people. She then worked at various nursing homes and ended her career at Flower Hospital. Most of all she loved the Lord and was a very active member of Calvary Bible Chapel for many years and most recently Faith Bible Baptist Church. She will be missed by many special church family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Donna Marie; sister, Beatrice; brothers, George, Harold and Paul. She is survived by her loving family of son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Rhonda Melchi; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Michael Guerrero; granddaughter, Gloria Frosh and her husband Terrail; and great granddaughter, Aniyah Frosh. The family will welcome friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 18, 2021 in the Faith Bible Baptist Church, 232 N. McCord Road, Toledo, Ohio where her funeral service will immediately follow. Burial will take place at Springfield Township Cemetery on Airport Highway in Holland. While Shirley loved flowers, she requested that those who wish to remember her do so with donations to Faith Bible Baptist Church or Calvary Bible Chapel instead of flowers.
