Sharon Devries

Sharon R. DeVries, age 80, of Toledo, Ohio went to Heaven on March 5, 2015. She was born on July 10, 1934 in Toledo, Ohio to Robert and Ruth Gehring. She was a graduate of Libby High School and married the love of her life, Donald J. DeVries on May 5, 1956. Just after marriage they started a family with two daughters. Sharon was a dedicated housewife, spending decades taking care of and looking after family members and friends and was definitely the head of the family. She had a heart of gold and just loved people. Some of her favorite hobbies included: staying beautiful at Michael Anthonys Salon, shopping and socializing at Meijer, and lunching with family at The Brownstone Tavern. She was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 197 until its closing. She was a huge fan of music and loved to boogie and sing. We will always remember her warmth, her caring, her helpful gestures and her adored sense of humor. Sharon is preceded in death by her Mother, Ruth M. Schnell and family friend, Roger L. Pleasant. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Jacob, daughters, Julie Marie, Lori (Bill) LeVally, grandchildren, Michael (Heather) DeVries, Josh (Ashley) & Ali Coleman, great grandchildren, Logan, Mikaylah, Lucas & Linkin, Cousin Sue and special friends, Kelly & Lin Furry & boys. Her family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Heartland Hospice and the ICU staff at The Heart & Vascular Center: Jenn, Veronica, Bill, Priscilla, Tonya, Rob, & Jaleel. She was never afraid to go to Heaven and always said when its my time, its my time. Her work her is done and she is now reunited with her Mother. It is now HER time to rest. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 2-8p.m. at H.H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd., Toledo OH 43613. Funeral Services will begin at 10a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Interment will be in Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe St., Sylvania, OH 43560.
