Samuel Lorn Schermerhorn Jr., 71, passed peacefully at home among his loving family in Toledo, Ohio. A Toledo native Sam was born in Toledo, Ohio to Samuel Schermerhorn Sr. and Betty- Jean.
Sam loved tinkering around since he was a young boy which lead him to become a mechanic mainly working on transmissions. His love of cars at a young age had gotten him into drag racing. Sam had tinkered, fixed, modified and oiled his T-Town Missile to be one of the most feared cars on the track winning competitions in Ohio all the way up to Michigan. When Sam was not going from 0 to 100, he enjoyed a friendly game of bowling and had scored a perfect 300 a few times in his life.
Sams memory is carried on through his daughters, Stephanie (Josh) Horton, Samantha Schermerhorn, Amy (Jamie) Sayre, and Debbie Lemke; brother Dwayne (Janet); sister Sandy Wilcox; former wife Margie Schermerhorn; grandsons Austin, Christopher, Joshua Jr., and Samuel; and granddaughter Braelyn
A private family grave side service will be held at Toledo Memorial Park.
