Ruth Smothers

Ruth “Ruthie” M. Smothers, 93, of Genoa, passed away peacefully at Genoa Care Center. She was born on February 26, 1928 in Toledo, OH to Lawrence and Hazel (Lloyd) Myers and she married Henry “Hank” A. Smothers. Ruth and Hank built a home and raised their family in Millbury. Ruth spent a few years living in Walbridge before moving to the Genoa care Center. Ruthie enjoyed crocheting and knitting, especially doilies, hats and mittens. Ruthie is survived by her loving children, Gary (Anne) Smothers and Robin (Gary) Feeny; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Henry. A graveside service was held privately at Lake Township Cemetery. Arrangements by Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, Walbridge Chapel (419-666-3121). Ruth’s family would like to thank the staff at Genoa care Center for their excellent care.
