Robert Warren

Robert A. Warren, age 66, of Luna Pier, Michigan, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 12, 1950 to Robert and Betty Warren. Rob was a graduate of Whitmer High School in 1969. While in high school Rob was a member of the Varsity football team, the Varsity wrestling team and the Baseball team. While in football they placed 1st in the Great Lakes League and Honorable mention for All District. Wrestling the team was in 1st place in the Great Lakes League and winning championship in Sectional, District and State. He was given the Dale Crow award in 1969 from Whitmer and was inducted into Whitmer High School Sports Hall of Fame in 1997. Rob went to Morehead State University earning a Bachelors degree in Industrial Technology. He continued wrestling at Morehead State where he earned the MVP award. After graduation, Rob was employed with Washington Local Schools for many years as a distinguished teacher, coach and athlete at Whitmer High School. He also taught various Industrial Tech. classes and was dept. head for many years along with coaching Varsity football and wrestling. Rob served as a member of River Raisin Wood Carvers and served on the Luna Pier and Erosion Protection Committee for many years. His hobbies included, wood carving, fishing, playing cards with friends and refinishing antiques. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jane Warren, brother, Mark Warren, and grandparents, Chester and Lucille Warren and Alice Brotherson.. Rob is survived by his wife, Janet Warren, sons, Addison Warren, Spencer (Rebecca) Warren, grandchildren Gabriel Schlosser, Kylie, Addison, Jr., Ethan Harrison and Cameron. Also surviving are his dad, Robert (Kaye) Warren, sisters, Pamela Kelley, Beth (Marty) Andryzcik, Abby Warren, sister-in-law, Lana (James) Moscrop along with many nieces and nephews. Memorial visitation will be on Friday, December 30 at H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd (419-473-1301) from 2:00 pm until time of Memorial Service beginning at 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be given to Whitmer Athletic Dept. or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
