Robert T. "Ted" Ross, Jr.

Robert Ted Ross, Jr., of Toledo, Ohio passed away Friday, October 28, 2022, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio. He was born on August 22, 1950, in Bar Harbor, Maine, to Robert and Phyllis (Sams) Ross. On July 20, 1974, he married Lorraine M. Houk in Montpelier, Ohio.Ted enlisted in the Navy following high school and spent nearly four years in the service, being discharged in 1972. Following his service, he spent several years in odd jobs here and there, including as a handyman and wheelchair repairman. Eventually, Ted found his calling as a Maintenance Technician at Otterbein Portage Valley (now Otterbein Pemberville), where he worked for nearly 30 years before retirement. He was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Northwood Ohio. In his spare time, Ted loved to watch baseball and coach and play softball, spending many years as the coach for Calvarys co-ed softball team. Ted also loved spending time with his family; his wife Lorraine, their sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren were a very important part of his life.Ted was predeceased by his wife Lorraine, their parents, his brothers-in-law Randy Ellerbusch, Gary Seibert, and John Oxender, and his sisters-in-law Jane Ellerbusch and Lorna Ross. He is survived by his sons Joshua (Candace) Ross of Toledo, Ohio, Jacob (Jacqueline) Ross of Brecksville, Ohio; grandchildren Theodore, Kaelen, Jensen, Christian, Luke, Julian, and Savannah; sisters Jean (Richard) McLennan of Highland, Michigan, Julie (Alan) Kintner of Fredericktown, Ohio, and Patricia Oxender of West Unity, Ohio; brothers Thomas (Nancy) Ross of Port Clinton, Ohio, and Timothy Ross of Dayton, Ohio; sisters-in-law Marsha Seibert of Sherwood, Ohio, Karen Houk of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Sharon (David) Deetz of Montpelier, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.Family and friends will be received on Sunday, November 6, 2022, from 2-8 pm at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd, Toledo, OH. Memorial services will be conducted on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 11 am at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1930 Bradner Rd, Northwood, OH, where there will be additional visitation from 10 am until time of services.Officiating will be Pastor Bob Noble. A bereavement luncheon will be served at the church immediately following the funeral services.
