Chief Robert (Bob) Reed Jr., 67, passed away on February 3, 2026 surrounded by his family and close friends.

Bob was born on October 13, 1958 in Toledo, OH, to Robert and Dorothy Reed.

Bob loved camping on his bus, spending time with his family, playing poker with his buddies, and watching Ohio State Football.

Chief Reed proudly served on Springfield Fire Department from 1984 to 1996. Bob switched careers and became a police officer for various counties and cities. Eventually Chief Reed became a police officer for the Village of Holland where he worked his way to becoming Chief. Chief Reed served proudly as Chief for the Village of Holland for 20 years. While serving as Chief, Bob also served on the U.S. Marshall's and other task forces throughout Lucas County.

Bob retired in 2024 as the longest serving Chief of Police for the Village of Holland.


Robert is survived by his daughter Cynthia Vermillion, his son in law Lucas Vermillion, Granddaughters Serenity Lenning and Scarlett Vermillion. His Grandson Gideon Vermillion.

The visitation for Chief Reed will be held on February 11, 2026 from 10am to 12:30pm at the Ray Neville Chapel at Sunrise Cremations and Funerals, Holland, Ohio with funeral services immediately following.

Chief Reed will be laid to rest at the Springfield Township Cemetery in Holland, Ohio following the procession after the funeral.

He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.
