Robert M. McAlister, 83, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 at Genesis of Sylvania, Ohio. He was born on October 11, 1934 in Toledo, Ohio to Dan McAlister and Julia (Horvath) McAlister-Hoff. He attended DeVilbiss High School. Robert honorably served in the United States Marines. Prior to Roberts retirement he was employed at Conrail Railroad for 28 years as a conductor also worked for the Toledo Public Schools as a crossing guard for the children. He enjoyed those special memories. Robert loved spending his relentless time gardening his beautiful flowers. His hobbies included puzzles, reading books, and loved history. He was proud to be a true Irishman. He loved listening to Irish and country music. He loved traveling all over the U.S. He had many friends and will be missed by them all. He loved his family and friends. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, D. Wanda McAlister; his daughters, Rhonda (Rick) Ruble and Bobbi McAlister; step-children, Sheri (Dave) Geyer, David (Kim) Holden, Randy McCullough, Doug (Chrys) Holden, Lisa (Gary) Hohn and Lori (Tom) McGee; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim McAlister; daughter, Candy (Kevin); step-daughter, Kim McCullough. A special Thank you to the caring staff of Genesis and Promedica Hospice of Sylvania for their loving care. In honoring Roberts wishes there will be no funeral services.
