Robert J. Bob Marquardt

October 9, 1923 — November 18, 2015

Bob Marquardt, 92, of Toledo, went to be with the Lord and reunite with family and friends on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Ebeid Hospice surrounded by his loving family. Bob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, whose greatest joy was spending timewith family. He was known to the grandchildren as Pap. He was born October 9, 1923 to August R. Marquardt and Anna (Piddock) Marquardt in Toledo. He graduated from Libbey High School and continued on to the University of Toledo on a wrestling scholarship. He married Rose Zagara on July 5, 1946 his best friend and love of his life in Bowling Green, Ohio who preceded him in death and was married to her for 68 years. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps. Bob worked as an insurance agent for Danbury Insurance for 26 years before starting his own insurance company, Nova Insurance in 1986, where he continued to work for 24 years. He retired in 2010. Bob was a member of the Eagles Club, and enjoyed golfing and swimming. He and Rose enjoyed many years at their cottage on Lake Erie, traveling and golfing. They enjoyed snowmobiling and cross country skiing at their cabin in Lewiston, MI. They spent many Thanksgivings with their son and his wife on Sanibel Island. Bob is survived by his children; Robin Heil, Becky (Rich) Jagielski, Bob (Kathy) Marquardt; grandchildren; Samantha Herman (Jeremy), Lance Heil, Sarah Kallay (David), Todd Jagielski (Marie),Keith Jagielski, Bobby Marquardt (Tamara), Ryan Marquardt, and Justin Marquardt; four great-grandchildren Erica and Alexa Burling, Olivia Olzak, and Juliana Kallay; sister, Lois Bricker; step-sisters, Mary Ann (Wayne) Goldsmith and Ardith (Jim) Myers. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rose; parents, August R. Marquardt and Anna Piddock Marquardt-McCurdy; sister, Beverly; and his step-father, Victor McCurdy. Per the familys request there will be no visitation and services will be private for family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cherry Street Mission or the American Cancer Society. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date
