Richard L. Wellons, 56, of Walbridge, Ohio, died Saturday, January 30, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Maumee, Ohio. He was born on August 21, 1964 in Barberton, Ohio, the son of Howard L. and Shirley R. (Wolf) Wellons. Richard graduated from Lake High School, class of 1982 and from BGSU in 1986 with his bachelors degree in business administration. Richard had worked for UPS in Maumee Ohio for 16 years. Richard played football and baseball for Lake during his high school years and in his later years enjoyed watching sports. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Indians. Richard is survived by his father, Howard, and siblings, Debra (Ibrahim) Abdulhamid, Michael (Cathy) Wellons and David (Erika) Wellons along with extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley. Due to COVID restrictions all in-person services will be private. A funeral service will be held via live streaming and can be viewed at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 5, 2021, by visiting Richard’s Tribute Wall on his home page at walkerfuneralhomes.com. Interment will be in the Lake Township Cemetery, Millbury, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Mental Health Services, 6629 W. Central Ave., Toledo, Ohio 43617 or the Donor’s Choice. The Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home of Walbridge is assisting the family with arrangements.
