Richard L. Macdonald

Richard Louis MacDonald, 73, passed away on February 26, 2021, while under hospice care at Heartland of ProMedica. Born in Toledo on August 12, 1947, Richard graduated from Maumee High School in 1965. Following an honorable discharge from the US Army in 1969 after his tour in Vietnam, Richard proudly worked at Jeep as an electrician and skilled trades supervisor, retiring in 2007. Richard was a loving, caring, and generous husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a hardworking and skilled handyman, who shared his talents with his family, friends, neighbors, and parish. Richard enjoyed golfing, reading, and volunteering at Our Lady of Lourdes parish. He was most proud of his family and treasured time spent with his wife and partner of nearly 46 years, Debbie, and their sons, Rob and Mike, daughters-in-law, Norma and Kristin, and grandsons. Brendan and Owen. He cherished the occasions when his children and grandchildren were home, delighted in providing small joys at such times whether it be McDonald’s pancakes or Mr. Freeze ice cream, and looked forward to the next trip to visit Rob and Norma in Nevada or Mike, Kristin, and the boys in northeast Ohio. Throughout, Richard worked hard to support his family and had tremendous pride in their lives and accomplishments. Richard will be remembered with immense love and gratitude by his wife, Deborah; sons, Robert (Norma Lisa) and Michael (Kristin); grandsons, Brendan and Owen; daughter, Dawn (Thomas) Lovingood; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Jurski; in-laws, Julie (Rick) Cavese; niece, Lindsey (Andy) Scherting; and nephew, Daniel Cavese; stepmother, Carol MacDonald; half-siblings, Don MacDonald, Daryl MacDonald, and Diann (Brian) Ferguson. Richard was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Dorothy (Smith) and Delbert Anderson; father, Richard W MacDonald; father-in-law, Peter Jurski; and half-brother, David MacDonald. The family wishes to thank the hospital, rehab, and hospice health professionals who cared for him during his final weeks. Due to the current health crisis, visitation and services will be private.
