On Oct 11th, 2021 we lost one of the world’s greatest Dad’s. Raymond Malewski has gone home to be with his wife, JimmieJean. Ray loved his music, cars, and his family and friends. He worked hard all of his life; spent a lifetime making friends and helping people every chance he got. Ray worked at New Mather Metals as a press operator for 36 years and retired in 1990. As a child from the Depression he learned to recycle at a young age and did so all of his life. Everyone in the neighborhood knew Ray the Can Man. He spent many days of his retirement walking the Reynolds Corners neighborhood and surrounding areas picking up cans and his many friends along the way also saved cans for him. He was always willing to lend anyone a helping hand, friends or strangers alike. His favorite saying was a quote from a long lost friend, Mr. Bettinger: “The way to make it thru a trying day: keep a smile on your lips, a song in your heart and a fifth on your hip!” Dad didn’t drink but had a wonderful sense of humor. The way to make it thru a trying day. Ray cared for his wife for 7 years during her illness with MS. They were high school sweethearts married almost 50 years when JimmieJean passed away in 1999. Ray is also preceeded in death by his oldest son, James Raymond(2015) and his oldest daughter, Kathleen Ann(2021). Ray is survived by his two sons, Jon and Jeff (Cathy); youngest daughter, Karen; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. We are grateful to Kind Hearts Hospice for the care he recieved during his last months and the Franciscan Center in his final days where he passed peacefully as he wished. Please keep him in your prayers. He’s gone home now to be with his girl.
