Paul A. Merritt Born in Toledo, Ohio to Bernard and Genevieve (Szcepankiewiecz,) Paul was called home by our Heavenly Father on December 27, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice. Paul graduated from Roger High School. Soon after, he started his job at Doehler Jarvis. He worked 28 years before they closed the Toledo plant in 1998. He worked at Active Mobilty for 2 years, then at Crown, Cork and Seal for 14 years, until his Parkinsons and heart problems made him leave on disability. He loved playing golf and was involved in many leagues. For the past few years, he was unable to play. This past summer, with the help of the owner of Cherrywood and some of his golf buddies, it was possible for him to play a few times. He was a happy man. We never thought his dream would come true. He made his hole-in-one on 10/10/2010. He was an Alabama and Ohio State fan. He is proceeded in death by his parents and son. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Caroline (Berchule,) step son Edward Berchule, step grandson Evan Berchule, best friends Ray and Nancy Portillo and his four-legged girlfriend and companion, Lady, the diamond of the family. Special thanks to the staff of Promedica Ebeid Hospice for the exceptional care given to Paul this past week. Many thanks to our special new family during this difficult time, nurses Marianne and Jojo, Chaplain Ron, social worker Kelly, home aides Josh and Dixie, and NP Cathy. To honor Pauls wishes, there will be no visitation and services will be private at a later date. Contributions can be made in Pauls memory to Promedica Ebeid Hospice and the Parkinsons Foundation.
