Patricia J. Thrasher

March 27, 1937 — April 4, 2021

Patsy’s six children, 25 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren were blessed to learn many valuable lessons during her 84 years on Earth, among them: how to provide the best Christmases (and those cookies!), making every kid in the neighborhood envious; how to be a master negotiator in order to talk your spouse into cooking all holiday and weekend meals; how to impress your family by cooking breakfast for dinner; and, if a bat flies into the house, how to properly grab a toilet brush to coax him out. In addition, one of her most bragged about accomplishments was when she set out to purchase a Cabbage Patch Doll for each grandchild during the craze in the 1980s. And she managed to purchase 15 dolls with only one fist-fight. Patsy filled the Dodd house with “the arts.” She loved to sing, dance and play the piano – none of it well. Patsy was also a master on the sewing machine. She was ahead of the “lawn goose fad,” making different outfits to dress her concrete companion in every week of the year. Patsy was born the youngest of five children to Mildred and Paul Stephens and grew up in Toledo before marrying Robert N. Dodd in 1955 and living the curse of giving birth to five consecutive sons after her first-born daughter. Patsy never let the grass grow under her feet, so she went on to marry and fall in love again (Marshal Thrasher)….and again (Edward Meidt) after the passing of her first husband of 35 years. Her surviving children include: Robin Osborn (Michael), David (Darlene) Dodd, Jeffrey (Diane) Dodd, Kelly Dodd and her baby Gregg Dodd. Her oldest son Michael (Tammy) Dodd passed away in 2020. Patsy especially loved what her children called the “Great Mother’s Day Race,” in which her children tried to be the first to call her each Mother’s Day – or at least avoid being dead last (phone calls came as early as 5 a.m.). Patsy was diagnosed with the horrific Alzheimer’s disease in 2018. After passing peacefully in her sleep, she is now in a place where she knows her children’s names again. The family will celebrate the life of Patsy at a grave-side remembrance at 11 a.m. on April 26, 2021 at Toledo Memorial Park, where her ashes will be interned next to the love of her life, Robert Dodd. Walker-Funeral Home, Holland-Springfield Chapel, 419-865-8879.
