Orville E. "Orv" Small

Orville E. “Orv” Small age 92 of Holland, OH passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, in his home surrounded by his family.  He was born in Toledo on April 10, 1930, to Arthur and Minnie (Broadbeck) Small Sr.  Orv was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

After high school, Orv took computer classes for Toledo Edison and was employed there until his retirement at the age of 60.  He was a private chauffeur, butler, cook, gardener, groundskeeper, and personal assistant to Paul Kirchmaier for many years.  Orv also worked in the construction industry.

Orv enjoyed making wine and was a woodworker for more than 80 years. He built swings and sold many until the last swing being built and sold when he was 91.  He and his family camped at various places until 1965 when they got a seasonal campsite at Sunny’s Campground in Wauseon.  Orv camped within 2 weeks of his death. He had many friends and family who loved and enjoyed his company. Orv was always ready and willing to help anyone who needed it.

Orv married the love of his life, Donna L. Mohr.  They were married 67 years until Donna’s passing on November 2, 2018. He was a wonderful husband and father of his two daughters, Pat (Bob) Weemes and Mindy (Robert) Nuhfer.  Also surviving is 3 grandchildren, Shane Collins, Devon Collins, Robert Nuhfer and 5 great-grandchildren.  In addition to his loving wife Donna, Orv was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda Sue Nuhfer; sister, Charlotte Vanderhorst, Evelyn Miller, Vera Jean Rublaitus, Mabel Ray and brothers, John Harder, Arthur Small Jr. and Russell Small.

Family and friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, Holland-Springfield Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway on Monday, August 22, 2022, from 3:00-8:00 PM.  Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at 11:00 in the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Springfield Township Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Church of God 3520 Strayer Rd, Maumee, OH 43537 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
