Odessa (Lewis) Brown was the daughter of Brunetta Robinson and Waylon Lewis. She was born on January 5, 1932 in Collinston, Louisiana, and passed away in her home on December 24, 2017. Odessa was married to Samuel Brown. Mrs. Brown worked most of her life. She was a cook for the University of Toledo for 34 years, and did many side jobs for a very prominent man named Mr. OConner, cleaning a variety of offices and buildings in downtown Toledo, Ohio. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Odessa had a variety of hobbies, her very favorite was fishing. She enjoyed cake decorating and gardening. She enjoyed raising vegetables and having a flower garden. She loved all flowers and the vast colors they held. She loved watching spiritual television programs and listening to gospel music, Mahalia Jackson being one of her favorite recording artists. Odessa participated at least twice a week in prayer lines. She loved to travel and visit family and friends near and far. She was a very dedicated wife and mother. Odessa leaves to cherish her memories a son, Kerry S. Brown, four grandsons; Creshawn Brown, Sirmar Brown, Jovon (Zana) Brown, and Sherron Brown. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bertha Winfield and Mary Blakely; brother, Calvin Tippit and a host of nieces and nephews, including great-nephew, Trevon Brown. She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Samuel Brown; siblings Sonny Blakely, Robert Lee Blakely, Gene Blakely, James Blakely, sister Bernadine Quince The wake was held Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home (1163 W. Sylvania at Lockwood, 419-269-1111). Family will gather at 10:00 a.m. in Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, with the Funeral Service following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery
