Norman L. Eck, 88, of Northwood, Ohio passed this life peacefully on November 14th, 2025 at his home. He was born June 7th, 1937, in Toledo, Ohio to Earl and Florence (Becker) Eck. He graduated from Waite High School in 1956 and then joined the United States Army Reserve and served six years while also training as a Boilermaker. As a proud member of the Local 85 Boilermakers, he was known for his strong work ethic, craftsmanship, and strong leadership. He continued as a proud Boilermaker for 42 years before retiring in 1997. Known for his kindness, humility, and unwavering dedication to helping others, Norm lived a life defined by service.
In retirement Norm continued his passion to help people by being heavily involved in the food pantry at his church. He served many duties in the nearly 20 years of service to the church. In addition, Norm also dedicated 50 years to the Masons and Zenobia Shrine. His involvement with the Freemasons was a point of pride, and being named to the Legion of Honor stood as a testament to his character and dedication to others.
He was a proud and devoted Dad, Papa and G-Pa, to all his kids, grandchildren and great grandchild. He loved cheering on his children in their sports and proudly stepped into the role of baseball coach. As a grandfather, he carried on that tradition, becoming a beloved presence on the sidelines. Norm always asked about his grandchildren first before asking about anyone else. Norm lived long enough to meet and adore his great grandson, Jack.
Norm leaves behind a legacy of compassion, service, and strength. His life impacted countless people. Though he will be deeply missed, the impact of his kindness and the lessons he lived by will carry on.
He was preceded in death by his wife Diana Eck, sister Caroline Eck, and his children; Norman Jr, Nadine, and Dale Eck.
