Nicholas Scott, Jr.

Nicholas Scott Jr., of Toledo passed away at Promedica Ebeid Hospice on Friday, November 18, 2022. He was 86. Born to Nicholas Scott, Sr. and Erma Lounsbrough on September 27, 1936, he graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1954. He joined the Navy but was sent home months later because of a heart murmur. Over the next few years, he held a series of jobs including a small business, met Patricia McGuire and they married on July 5, 1961. Seeing no real future and with Patricias support, he enrolled at the University of Toledo and graduated with a Masters Degree in August 1967. He taught at Whiteford High School in Ottawa Lake, Michigan for the next 30 years, retiring in 1997. Nick lived virtually all his life as a mentor of Blessed Sacrament Parish. He attended the school there for eight years as did his children. He volunteered in many capacities including lector, Eucharistic Minister, RCIA and served a term as a parish council member. He coached girls softball and boys baseball for many years. He also was a tutor for Read for Literacy and a CASA/GAL volunteer.Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Grace Ann Scott; and his wife, Patricia. He is survived by his four children, Nicholas III (Luan), Karen Meredith (Jeff), Michael (Beth), and Eileen Gareau (Chris); 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.There will be a visitation in the Narthex of Blessed Sacrament Church one hour before the 11:00 A.M. Mass on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. Any donations should be made to Ebeid Hospice or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
