Nancy Waite

Nancy Jane (Trevis) Waite of Scottsdale Acres in Haubstadt, Indiana died on October 10, 2019. Born on January 21, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio, Nancy graduated from Maumee High School and went on to graduate from Warner Beauty School. After beauty school, Nancy worked at Marlenes Salon in Maumee, Ohio. In 1967, Nancy married Patrick at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and had two children, Michael, and Michelle. She was a beloved aunt to her many nieces and nephews, especially to her deceased brothers children, Eddie, Matt, and Kristie. She enjoyed 52 years as a wife and a mother. Nancy participated in Girl Scouts of America first as a scout and then later as a troop leader. She and the girls enjoyed many adventures together including the creation of their own Great Lakes Boating badge. Nancy, an avid boater spent many weekends of her young adult life at Put-n-Bay and the other Lake Erie islands. Nancy was an avid baker and gardener. She enjoyed sewing, refinishing furniture and redecorating her many new homes. In her lifetime she lived in Toldeo, Ohio, Landenberg, Pensylvania, Hudson, Ohio, Spartanburg, South Carolina, Gilbert, Arizona, Newburgh, Indiana and lastly Haubstadt, Indiana. She and Pat also enjoyed traveling together in their motorhome in the early 90ies. Together they explored the west, including our great nations national parks. Her favorite is Yellowstone in Wyoming. While out west, she enjoyed spending time with her sister, Lindas children, Justin and Shelby and their families. In addition to going across the country, together they traveled from Mexico to Alaska and Nova Scotia to Florida. She spent the latter part of her life in Haubstadt. She was a participating member of the Bible Study Fellowship for seven years. She also enjoyed playing hostess to her large family and friend groups who enjoyed visiting her lake viewed home, affectionately called, The Waite Estate by her grandchildren. After being diagnosed with ovarian cancer, Nancy continued to travel. She enjoyed many beach vacations with her son, Michael and his family, a trip to Hawaii with her daughter, Shelly and a girl's road trip through the state of California with her granddaughters. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Mildred Trevis, her in-laws, Clarence and Bernice Waite, her brother Edmund Trevis, her brother-in-law, Edmund Lavender. Friends will be received on Monday from 10 AM until the time of Services at Noon at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home (1163 W. Sylvania at Lockwood, 419-269-1111).
