Mattie Boatman

Mattie Bee Gordon- Boatman, 66, departed this life peacefully and without struggle on Friday September 23, 2016. She was born April 15, 1950 to the late Sollie, Sr. and Annie Gordon in Minter City, Mississippi. Mattie confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Mattie graduated from Lincoln Elementary, Robinson Junior High and Scott High School. She worked at the U.S. Postal Service a few years before becoming a cook at St. Lukes Hospital for over 35 years until her illness in 2009. Mattie loved spending time with her children. She loved going to any and all casinos and she also loved playing bingo. She had such a joyful spirit. To know her was to love her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and awesome friend who loved her family and friends very deeply. Her infectious smile will be truly missed. She leaved to cherish her loving memories, daughters, Tereva and Valeria Boatman; sons, Detrick and Terrance (Sophia) Boatman; grandsons, Antwuane Hughes and Ayden Zapata; brother, Sollie, Jr. (Joann) Gordon; sisters, Yolanda Gordon and Lillie P.
