Mary Kathryn Wilkolek, age 94, of Walbridge, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 9, 2023. She was born on June 30, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio to Harry and Lucille (Heath) Swartz. Mary graduated from Olney High School in 1947. She was married to Raymond Lewis, Sr. on June 19, 1948. They had five children during their marriage. Mary and Ray owned and operated a carry out on East Broadway in Walbridge for many years. On June 22, 1963, she was joined in marriage with John Wilkolek. With Mary's five and John's two, they raised 7 children. Mary and John were married for 45 years until he passed in 2008. Mary worked for 18 years as a typist for Libbey Owens Ford. She was also a district manager for Sarah Coventry and Park Lane Jewelry for nearly 20 years. Mary was the recipient of many awards and honors through her community service and jewelry sales. She holds the title of Toledo's Women of the year 1984. She was a faithful member of the former Oakdale United Methodist Church, currently Unity United Methodist Church in Northwood, Ohio. At the church, she served as Sunday school superintendent for 14 years, treasurer on various committees, adult Sunday School teacher, a member of the women's group, choir director and organized countless fundraisers for the church.
Mary is survived by her children, Gloria (George) Hoffman, Bonnie Duffy, Elaine Sotko, Cynthia Dickson, Raymond Lewis, Jr.; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Joyce (Kenneth) Bowers and Lucille Herber; and son-in-law, Jim Samberg. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John Wilkolek and Raymond Lewis, Sr.; children, Karen Rick and Jean Samberg; grandchildren, Kellie Jo May, Olivia Jo Johnson, Victoria Mingus, Dakari Johnson and Judith Ann Samberg; brother, Louis Swartz; sisters, Beatrice Gray and Carolyn Swartz; and son-in-law, Mike Sotko.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home in Walbridge, Ohio, 701 N. Main Street. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 11 am at Unity United Methodist Church, 1910 E. Broadway Street, Northwood, Ohio 43619 with additional visitation from 10- 11am at the church. Interment will be in Lake Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Unity United Methodist Church.
