Mary Kristen “Bernadette” Koback, age 54, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026. Mary was born on September 6, 1971, at Toledo Hospital. She was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, beloved daughter, sister, and friend. Her warmth, faith, and kindness touched everyone who knew her.
Mary is survived by her loving parents, Bill and Carol Koback; her siblings, Carolyn, Chris (Cleo), Billy, Tim, Scott (Sherri), Mark, Todd (Brenna), Brian (Jaimelynn), Jason, James (Michelle), and Andrew; her children, Stephanie, Brittany, Bryant, and Mariah; and her treasured grandchildren, Landon, Logan, Layla, Jaxon, Analycia, Amaria, Alizae, Leighveiya, and Layleighana. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved son, Stephen Koback, as well as her grandparents and many cherished aunts and uncles.
Mary found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren. She loved reading books, writing, and was an exceptional cook who enjoyed preparing meals for those she loved. Her family was the center of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to show them how deeply she cared. A woman of strong faith, Mary spent much of her time in prayer and was known for her warm smile, contagious laughter, and ability to make everyone around her feel welcomed and valued. She always made it a point to speak with everyone in the room, leaving each person feeling seen and appreciated.
Mary was baptized and received her First Holy Communion and Confirmation at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She attended grade school at Our Lady of Lourdes and graduated from Springfield High School, where she excelled in basketball, softball, and soccer. Her joyful spirit, sense of humor, and genuine love for people remained with her throughout her life. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mary’s life during visitation from 3:00-7:00 PM on Monday, July 6, 2026, at the Ray Neville Chapel at Sunrise Cremations & Funerals, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, Ohio 43528. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Little Flower Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest immediately following, at Springfield Township Cemetery.
Mary’s legacy of faith, unconditional love, kindness, laughter, and unwavering loyalty for her family will live on in the hearts of all those who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain with her family and friends forever.
