Martin Reihing

Martin Reihing, age 89, of Toledo, died Sunday September 17, 2017 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 6, 1928 in Toledo to Mr. & Mrs. Clarence (Dorothy Kalter) Reihing. He was a WWII Army Veteran and retired from the U.S. Post Office after 35 years and later worked for Toledo Gear Motor for 20 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the former St. Agnes parish and currently a member of St. Catherine Parish, where he volunteered with the Feed your Neighbor and Community Concerns programs. He enjoyed the West Toledo Senior Centers exercise program. He was known for his love of Corvairs and always helped others with parts and knowledge. Survived by; son, John (Danielle) Reihing of Temperance; daughter, Therese (Charles) Stambaugh of Monclova; grandchildren, Carrie (Michael) Carter, Joseph (Jessica) McCray, Nicholas (Robin) McCray and Melissa McCray; great-grandchildren, Taliesin, Elizabeth, Cole, Ella, Kyla, John and Zelah; brother, Clifford Reihing; sister-in-law Nina Reihing and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred in 2012; brother, Clarence and sisters Loretta and Margaret. Friends will be received at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home (1163 W. Sylvania at Lockwood, 419-269-1111) on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Burial, Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
