Mark Angelo Papulias, age 66, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on April 16, 2026, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Sylvania, Ohio. He was born on July 22, 1959, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of George A. and Carolynn J. (Cayton) Papulias.
Mark attended Macomber High School and later proudly earned his GED in the early 2000s, an accomplishment that reflected his determination and perseverance. He dedicated many years of hard work to ConAgra, where he was employed from the 1980s until the plant's closing.
Above all else, Mark's greatest pride and purpose in life was being a father. He was, without question, the best dad anyone could ask for. His love for his children was constant, unconditional, and unwavering. Every single morning, without fail, Mark made breakfast for his kids before school, a simple act that perfectly reflected his devotion and care. He was always there, whether it was for school events, games, or life's everyday moments. Mark was his children's biggest cheerleader, their strongest supporter, and their steady source of encouragement. He showed up, not just when it was easy, but always, and that meant everything. His children knew they could count on him for anything, and his love shaped the foundation of their lives.
That same love carried into his role as a grandfather. His grandchildren lovingly nicknamed him "Pooh Pooh" and "Pete," and he embraced every moment spent with them. Being a dad and grandpa wasn't just something Mark did, it was who he was, and he did it exceptionally well.
Mark also enjoyed life's many simple pleasures. He was a loyal Detroit Tigers and Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed bowling, participating in a league for many years. He dedicated over 20 years as an umpire for softball and baseball, sharing his love of the game with the community. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, and tending to his flowers, and he cherished time spent on family vacations, with favorite destinations including Disney, South Carolina, and Virginia.
Mark will be remembered for his incredible sense of humor and his ability to make anyone laugh. He lit up every room he entered and left people smiling wherever he went. Always positive, kind, and full of life, Mark was truly a hoot, and everyone who met him loved him.
Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Sundi (Huston) Papulias; children, Haylee and Trevor (Alexia) Papulias; mother of his children, Linda Papulias; bonus children, Tyler, Joshua, and Jacob (Hannah); grandchildren, Alexiana, Trevor Jr., Ahanlicia, Teahna, Aubree, Brooklinn, and Jaxson; brother, James (Stacey) Papulias; 5 nieces; and lifelong friends, James and Steve Martin, Mary Larson-Yuill, and Neal (Deb) Stroshine. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Geroge and Carolynn Papulias; and childhood friend, Lee Grunke, whom his daughter, Haylee, was named after.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 12:00pm-2:00pm at the Ray Neville Chapel at Sunrise Cremations and Funerals, Holland, Ohio, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00pm.
