Marieke Jacoba Paulina Cummins

Marieke Jacoba Paulina Cummins, age 68, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2025.

She was born on June 24, 1956, in Utrecht, Netherlands, and remained deeply proud of her Dutch heritage throughout her life.

Marieke was preceded in death by her parents, Johannes and Hermina Brouwer; her beloved daughter, Angela K. Binder; her sister, Ursula Lewis; her brother, John Brouwer; and her great- niece Abigail M. Brouwer.

She is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Jerry Cummins; her siblings: Harm (Dorothy) Brouwer, Herb (JoAnna) Brouwer, Johanna (Greg) Schafer, and Birgitta (Richard) Arduser; her children: Justin (Sandy) Binder, William (Rosanne) Binder, and Roy (Patrick) Binder; along with many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marieke earned her degrees as a CMN and CPC from Owens Community College and the University of Toledo. She dedicated 16 years of service to Promedica Toledo Hospital, where she retired in October of 2021.

Marieke found joy in life’s simple pleasures — she loved reading, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved to share her Dutch traditions and culture to her children.

A celebration of Marieke’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 17th from 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm at Inside the Five in Perrysburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in memory of her daughter, Angela K. Binder, and her great-niece, Abigail M. Brouwer.

Marieke’s warmth, compassion, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

In our hearts, she will always remain close — and gezellig.
