Margaret (Betty) Elizabeth Heninger was born to Cammie and Donald Holder on February 16, 1936.A
graduate of Fremont Ross High School, she met her husband, James E Heninger, of 60 years, a year after
graduation and married January 15, 1956 while he was stationed in Louisiana with the Army. Upon his
discharge in 1957, they returned to Ohio and started their family.
Betty had 4 children: Victoria Flahie (Dan), James Heninger (Kim), Timothy Heninger, and Joy Heninger.
She was especially proud of her 9 grandchildren: Nicholas Flahie, Brian Flahie, Tyler Heninger (Natasha),
Kevin Flahie (Brittani), Taylor Corey (Joe), Kelsey Smith, Zachary Smith (Lily), Anna Smith and Margaret
Smith. 2 step grandchildren: Angela Cooper and Tifany Howard (Austin), and 7 great grandchildren:
Bentley Flahie, Hadley Flahie, Alice Heninger and Flynn Heninger, Isabella Cooper, Aubrey and lsaiah
Howard. She was known to her many nieces and nephews as Aunt Pinky.
Betty loved to help others all her life. When she was a small child, her mother boarded hearing impaired
children and Betty learned to help them using sign language. She was a girl scout leader, Mother's Club
officer, and volunteer organist at Advent Lutheran Church where the family were charter members. For
15 years she ran the food pantry at Providence Lutheran Church and assisted with their Angel tree at
Christmas. She also volunteered at St Luke's hospital for many years in the mail room and then in the
Tobacco Cessation Unit.
Her family was her life and they all enjoyed many days at their summer home on Lime Lake. Water was a
joy to Betty and both her summer home and her permanent home were on lake shores, where she could
watch the birds and be close to God. She found peace in her sewing, whether it was making formals and
wedding dresses, beautiful hand pieced quilts or fine needle work.
Betty was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars serving at Sylvania, Toledo and Triune Chapters for over 50 years. She was a three-time Worthy Matron and served the 0hio Grand Chapter in 1987.
Preceding her in death are her husband, parents and only sibling, Marian Kern (Dale) of McComb, Ohio.
