Lyle Joseph Koenig

Lyle “Joe” Koenig age 84 of Lime City, OH passed away on Thursday, December 23rd, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Maumee OH. Joe was born on June 23rd, 1937 at home to Lawrence and Frances (Grosjean) Koenig. On November 14, 1957 in Toledo, OH he married Beverly Mckinley, and she preceded him in death on June 13, 2020. Joe was a longtime employee at Interlake Steel as a pipefitter, a career he mastered during his life. Joe loved all types of food - whether it be fried food, peanut butter, or sardines, if he had a can of beer at his side, he would enjoy it. He was a strict father to his 3 girls, but had a funny, wise-cracking jokester side that would especially shine through with his grandchildren. Joe is survived by his children, Karole (Paul) Shope, Penny Eischen, and Linda Staifer; grandchildren Paul Shope Jr., Adrienne Shope, Vincent Eischen, Kyle Eischen, Angela Staifer, Christopher Staifer; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Blair; and brother, Merle (Sally) Koenig. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Shirley Koenig, and brother, Donald Koenig. Visitation for Joe will be Thursday, December 30th, 2021 from 2pm-8pm in the Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St. Walbridge, Ohio 43465. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am, Friday December 31st, 2021 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Lake Township Cemetery, Millbury OH.
