Louis J. Nagy, age 96, of Toledo, left this life July 1, 2017 at his residence at West Park Place. He was employed at Jeep for over 36 years, 25 of them as a Union Official as a member of Local 12. He also worked at the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad as an NYA Traffic Controller. During WWII he served in the U.S. Army as a Tech. Sgt., specializing in all forms of communication. He was also rated as an Expert Rifleman. He campaigned in the Southwest Pacific from New Guinea to the Philippines. He was a 70 year+ life member of Buddy Frankowski Post 5530, where he was a cook for many years, as well as American Legion Post 545, where he was also a cook and a life member. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, herself a Navy Veteran of WWII; son, Michael; parents James and Elizabeth Nagy; brothers, James and Harry. He will be sadly missed by nephew, David (Nancy) Kaczorowski; nephew, Harry Nagy; niece , Joyce Nagy; good friends, Donna and Clarence Tiny Bernhard; cousins, Julie, Lauren, Samantha and Andrew Ledzianowski; special friend and bingo buddy, Gerry; brother Chris Lauman Friends will be received at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home (1163 W. Sylvania at Lockwood, 419-269-1111) on Thursday from 11 AM until the time of Services at Noon. Burial, Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Toledo will follow with Military Honors. He will be remembered for his joy of giving and his loving heart.
