Lisa Schell

Lisa (Eversman) Schell, 61, passed away on September 21, 2026.

Lisa spent much of her life in Oregon, Ohio, and later made her home in Toledo. A graduate of Clay High School, she was fiercely independent and lived life very much on her own terms.

Lisa found happiness in life’s simple, familiar things. She loved sitting on the porch, visiting with her neighbors and watching the birds come and go from her bird feeder. Her afternoons were often reserved for her soap operas, and she always enjoyed an episode of All in the Family. She loved bright colors and old country music, especially Kris Kristofferson and songs like “Harper Valley P.T.A.” and “I Never Promised You a Rose Garden.”

Although she lived in northwest Ohio, Lisa always dreamed of living near the ocean. Since she never quite made it there, she brought a little of the beach home with her, filling her surroundings with seashells and beach-inspired touches.

Throughout her life, Lisa worked at Erie Construction, TARTA, and the Autism Academy of Learning. Her time at the Autism Academy held a particularly special place in her heart. She loved seeing the children each day and often shared stories about the things they did and said that made her laugh. It was work she was genuinely proud of and a time in her life she remembered fondly.

Above all, Lisa loved her family. She is survived by her longtime partner, Jesus Rodriguez; her children, Abbey (Schell) Kurth and her husband, Justin Kurth, Freddy Schell, and Jarrett Schell; her grandchildren, Wyatt and Violet Kurth; and her brothers, Jeff (Debra) Eversman, Michael (Louise) Eversman, and Jerry (Karen) Eversman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Carole Eversman, and her beloved grandmother, Zelda Carey.

Lisa’s life had its share of difficult chapters, but those chapters were only part of her story. She will be remembered by those who loved her for the person she was, the laughter and memories they shared, and the place she held in their lives. She will be deeply missed.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
