Linda A. McDonald

Linda Ann McDonald (Wheating), age 86, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026.

Linda was born on July 28, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio, to Richard W. Wheating and Edith A. Wheating. She lived a full and meaningful life defined by her dedication to family, her strong work ethic, and her warm, generous spirit.

She attended Rogers High School in Toledo, Ohio, and continued her education at the University of Toledo. Linda was proud of her involvement in organizations such as Rainbow Girls and Grand Lecture for Ohio. She was a hardworking woman who held positions with Meijer and worked as a legal secretary. While she carried many important roles throughout her life, she was most cherished as a loving mom, sister, wife, granny, and friend.

Linda had a gift for bringing people together and sharing life's simple joys. She loved listening to Michael Bublé and Josh Groban, knitting the coziest blankets, and preparing special dishes that will forever be remembered by those she loved. She enjoyed relaxing with a glass of Cupcake Moscato, often accompanied by her favorite pfeffernüsse or Milano cookies. Above all, Linda treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Edith Wheating; her beloved husband, Bruce L. McDonald; and her grandson, Scott T. Shugar.

Linda is survived by her sister, Barbara R. Durgin; her five children, James J. Shugar (Barbara Shugar), Keith T. Shugar (Jeanette Shugar), Dianna L. Shugar, Stuart M. McDonald (Karen McDonald), and Gwenn L. Whitman (Robert Whitman Jr.); as well as many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at The Ray Neville Chapel at Sunrise Cremations and Funerals, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, OH 43528 from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 am. A graveside service will immediately follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

Linda's love, kindness, and legacy will live on in all who knew and loved her.
