.Leon Mowka, 85, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on September 1, 2017. He was born January 15, 1932. Leo was a graduate of Libbey High School and a Navy Reservist for 8 years. He retired from Chrysler Toledo Machine Plant after 24 years as a talented master Tool & Die Maker. He then moved to Catawba Island for 25 years building fun lasting memories with his children and grandchildren. Leo loved to spend time fishing, boating, and going on epic camping trips with his family and friends. He also liked woodworking and gardening. He used his abilities to build or fix anything to help others. In later years he and his wife, Rose, enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and wintering in Florida and Arizona. He was a devoted husband and father, married to Rosalie (McIntosh) Mowka for 60 years. He is also survived by his daughters, Tamara (John) Kenny, Teresa (Kevin) Mowka-McCullough, and Laurie (Michael) Meyers; his 7 grandchildren, Daniel, John, Jennifer, Brianne, Alison, Kristin, and Reese; and 2 great grandsons, JohnDavid and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his son Eric Leon Mowka, and his parents Felix and Helen (Polcyn) Mowka. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Maumee, Ohio on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 10:00 am. A reception will follow in the St. Joseph Community Center. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Scleroderma Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or Susan G. Komen Northwest Ohio.
