Leah was born on June 16, 1963 to her parents, Edward and Helen (Clayton) Simms, in Toledo, Ohio. She grew up on the East side of the city where it was a challenge to stay out of and away from trouble.
Leah was a student at Lincoln elementary school from K - 6th grade. Afterwards, she attended Middle School at Robinson Elementary.
She became a Spartan when she attended Start High School during her Freshman and Sophomore years. During her years there at Start, Leah became a member of the Start High marching band and played the clarinet.
One of Leah's favorite hobbies was singing. She was a marvelous singer and could sing in the highest soprano range up to a whistle range often mimicking the famous female singer Minnie Riperton.
She was part of a quartet singing group after she graduated, it lasted for a short duration.
Leah's other hobby was dancing. She was a great dancer and in her spare time, she loved to draw scenery and was pretty good at it. There was nothing that Leah could not do if she set her mind to it.
During her high school years, Leah was employed at Wendy's restaurant at the service counter and worked her way up to be an assistant manager during her time there.
As she was about to return her Junior year, Start High misplaced her transcripts and she could no longer take the bus to Start High school. Leah had to attend Scott High school which was located in her district.
This is where she was destined to met her husband to be. Leah attended an art class where she met her high school sweetheart, Carl Adams.
In 1987 they were married and they had a beautiful daughter named Alisha. It would be eight years later when they would have a son named Carl (CJ) Jr. Though they had known each for over 47 years, they drove on the highway of marriage for 38 years. They stayed faithful to the marriage covenant, "To death do you part."
Her life ended suddenly at St. Anne Hospital due to kidney failure.
She poured her invested time into her family. We truly miss her. We will miss her beautiful smile and lovely personality. No words can express the deep empty space she left at home and in our hearts.
We love you dearly, We trust God's promise of the resurrection of the saints to eternal life.
We will see you then!
