Lawrence Lambert Larry Sulier, 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at IHM Senior Living Community (Immaculate Heart of Mary) in Monroe, Michigan surrounded by his loving family and the incredible care of the IHM nursing staff and Elara Caring Hospice Care.Born in Toledo, Ohio on October 10, 1944, he was the son of Gilbert N. and Eileen J. (Poulin) Sulier. As a young boy Larry attended St. Clements Catholic School and later graduated from Whitmer High School, Class of 1962. Following high school, he started a band named The Twilighters and performed as the drummer through the early 70s, as well as he honorably served six years in the U.S. Army National Guard of Ohio from 1966-1971.Larry had a very diverse employment history. He started as a Mechanic and ended his career as an Electrician. He gained mechanical experience working at Sentle Trucking as a tractor-trailer mechanic where he attended GMC Diesel School in Detroit, MI; Bohl Equipment as a Lift Truck Mechanic; Peck-Sulier, Inc. as Parts Department Assistant Manager; and Westgate Dodge as Parts Department Manager. His time working at his fathers co-owned Dodge Dealership, Peck-Sulier, Inc., allowed him to work alongside his sister Cathy who worked in the front office and his brother Jay who worked in the Used Car Sales Department until the dealership closed in 1970 to make way for the construction of I-475. Larry started his career in the electrical field working at numerous companies to include High Voltage Systems as an Apprentice Lineman; Blankenship Heating & Air Conditioning performing electrical installation and fabrication; Belegrin Electric, and Z & Z Electric as an Electrician. He ended his career at The Toledo Board of Education for The Toledo Public School System as Foreman of the Electrical Department, retiring in 2008 after over 40 years of service as an Electrician.Larry was a loving man and hard worker who took pride in the quality of his work. He worked side jobs and enjoyed horse-trading, working on projects around his property on the farm, hosting pig roasts and hay rides, and touring Europe during a three-week vacation. Larry had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. As an avid tv watcher some of his favorite shows included Looney Toons cartoons, Laurel & Hardy, Abbott & Costello, The Three Stooges, and The Benny Hill Show. Most of all, he loved being around family.Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jay Frederick, and infant sister, Sally Ann Sulier. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Maryann E. (Bazar) Sulier; his children, Kristine (Paul) Rentz, Colleen Anderson, Kirk (Karen) Sulier, Kevin Sulier; grandchildren, Sarah (Joshua) Greco, Nathan (Laura) Rentz, Matthew Rentz, Kevin (Kylee) Anderson, Heather Sulier, John Sulier; and great grandchildren, Emilia, Maelene, Dax, Kainen, and Kinley. Also surviving are his sister Catherine and brother-in-law Joseph Russo, and sister-in-law Annette Sulier.There will be a Memorial Mass held September 3rd, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at IHM Chapel, 610 W Elm Avenue, Monroe, MI 48162, with a celebration of life luncheon in the Cloister Dining Room immediately following.
